Our Wacky Olympics were a huge success thanks to the great planning of our Therapeutic Recreation Department and the enthusiastic involvement of our residents and staff members. Teams were made up of residents matched with staff members. They enjoyed playing games like “Hungry Hippo,” “Plunk,” “Knock Down,” and “Bucket Head.” Here’s a description of each:
- Hungry Hippo The staff will push the resident back and forth while the resident collect balls with the “Hippo” (an upside-down small basket attached to a broom handle)! The team who collects the most balls wins.
- Plunk The resident will pull the stick out of the cage. The staff will move the cage in front of the resident. If any balls fall you are out.
- Knock Down The first person to knock down all the bottles wins.
- Bucket Head One player will toss the ball at the other player who will catch it in his or her bucket.
At Cedar Haven, we are proud of our full calendar of fun activities that improve quality of life for our residents and keep us all smiling. One resident told us that the Wacky Olympics made for “the most fun I’ve ever had!”
Please enjoy this video of Hungry Hippos in action and come by for a tour to learn more about our events.
