“We met in the main dining room at Cedar Haven… I took a liking to her right away and offered to buy her a cup of coffee.” The rest was history!
This is the second post in a new resident spotlight series.
Our residents have lots of opportunities to make new memories and enjoy life with friends at Cedar Haven. While fun events take place within our walls every day, it’s hard to beat a wedding. There are several couples who have met and married at Cedar Haven over the last fifty years. What better time is there than Valentine’s day to share the story of Earl and Josie, who met and married at Cedar Haven!
How They Met
Earl and Josie met in the main dining room at Cedar Haven. Earl noted that, “I had been here a little over a year and Josie had been here 3 weeks. I took a liking to her right away and offered to buy her a cup of coffee.” The dining room was a great location for them to continue spending time together over food and coffee as they got to know one another.
A Cedar Haven Wedding
Earl and Josie were in the Cedar Haven chapel. Describing the wedding, Earl said that “It was very nice. There were 77 attendees.”
“We had two ministers officiating, one representing each of our religions,” noted Josie.
After the wedding, they enjoyed a reception in the Cedar Haven Recreation Room. Over 200 well-wishers joined in the celebration. “We had cake, finger foods, and spent time with our guests,” remembers Josie.
Josie and Earl are pictured above in front of a tree decorated for Valentine’s Day at Cedar Haven. Earl and Josie continue to enjoy spending every day with one another at their side. “We like watching TV in the room we share together and we still get coffee together on a daily basis,” said Earl. “We go to church and mass together and visit with mutual friends in the main dining room,” shared Josie.
Here’s to many more Valentine’s Day celebrations for this sweet couple! From all of your friends at Cedar Haven: We’re so happy that you found each other.
