At Cedar Haven, we are celebrating Spring by sharing more about the great joy animals bring to our Team and residents! We began in March of 2022 by sponsoring the adoption of a pet from the Humane Society of Lebanon County named Portia, who our Team selected to receive the Cedar Haven pet scholarship. We also shared the photos below of the beloved pets of our team and are now featuring some new additions! At Cedar Haven, we will continue to celebrate our love of animals by hosting a week-long “Casual for a Cause” dress down fundraiser to benefit the Humane Society of Lebanon County this April. Please enjoy the photos below and have a happy Spring!

KATIE & DIXIE

KATIE & DIXIE

Dogs, submitted by "fur mom" Georgette Sutton, LPN

Dixie, a mixed Bernese Mountain dog and Katie, a mixed Border Collie are two lucky cheeseburger loving dogs.  Katie loves going to the park for walks, enjoys riding in the car, Loves to come to work with “Mom” and loves to eat many types of food, with McDonald’s cheeseburgers at the top of her list.  Katie enjoys taking naps, preferably on the couch at home or the nearest empty bed.

Her best friend is Dixie, and both dogs love to come to work with “Mom” whenever they can.  They both enjoy seeing the residents and will say “Hi” with a friendly wag of the tail.

While Katie’s hobby is finding good pplaces to nap, Dixie loves playing with toys, and throwing and catching balls is her super-fun specialty.  Dixie does enjoy naps in her own dog bed, but she is probably dreaming about playing with toys.

Dixie has her own basket of toys at home and likes to check out the toys in her basket, choosing what she wants to play with next.

Dixie likes to throw balls in the air with her mouth and catch them.  She’s a young high-energy girl and she really likes when someone will play catch with her. Any kind of game and someone to play with makes her day.

Both Dixie and Katie are sweet, gentle dogs, as well as good friends.

Reese

Reese

Cat

Two days before I was supposed to adopt him from the Humane society I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.  I didn’t think I could take care of a kitten but my daughter talked me into it.  With my first chemo treatment I was very sick, he stayed by my side in bed and has been with me for almost 4 years now. During chemo he made me laugh every day.  Between Reese, my family, friends and Cedar Haven family I made it through those very difficult times.

And he still thinks that bowl is his.

Who do you think was rescued?

Dogs

All are pit bulls, Dyna and Hutch have visited Cedar Haven on numerous occasions to see residents and staff. All love to go on walks and look out the back patio door for rabbits and squirrels. You can catch them on a sunny day laying in the sun sleeping. They are the biggest cuddlers you will ever meet.

Baby

Baby

Dog

Baby is an adorable Shih-Pom. Some may say she also resembles a cotton ball with a tail. She is full of energy, loving, and smart! She enjoys learning new commands and tricks such as spin, kisses, shake, and sit. She enjoys going to Starbucks for a delicious Puppuccino and shopping trips to Pet Smart. Baby also enjoys meeting other furry friends on her walks. Baby is loved so much and a fur-ever friend!
