This October we welcomed LifeCare Podiatry Group and their team to Cedar Haven Healthcare Center. We are pleased to announce that Eugene Smolens, DPM; Jacob Form, DPM; and Jahangir Habib, DPM are now part of our clinical Medical team and have begun visiting our residents and caring for their podiatry needs in their rooms.
Cedar Haven is set apart from many other skilled nursing facilities by our 6-day-a-week physician presence and the clinics that bring specialists directly to our residents on a regular basis. In addition to a regular podiatry clinic, Cedar Haven also has a weekly eye clinic, a weekly mental clinic, a biweekly hearing aid clinic, a biweekly glasses repair clinic, dental clinics at least three times a month.
Sam Simniskis, the Cedar Haven Clinic Coordinator, said “almost everyone participates in the podiatry and eye clinics. Dental also serves at least 70% of our residents. The clinics are very convenient. The residents don’t need to leave the building to receive specialized care.”
These clinics have improved quality-of-life for many residents. For example, one resident arrived at Cedar Haven with impaired hearing but could not afford to see a hearing specialist at the time. After visiting our in-house clinics, she now has 2 hearing aids and is able to have them checked regularly. The clinics are not only convenient, but they have also had a dramatic impact on this resident’s ability to socialize and enjoy life.
